| This painting was
the result of two ideas- the independence women gained
through voting rights in the early twentieth century and my
interest in cabinet card portraits. The British TV series
Upstairs, Downstairs showed the struggle of the classes
in the late Victorian period. The idea for this painting was
simply Victory Day for women in service. |
